Development Internship
Responsibilities: The American Lung Association (ALA) seeks well-rounded, dynamic college students to join our team for a Development/Health Promotions Internship. Our internship program offers a variety of experience in event planning, communication, marketing, public health promotion, corporate relations, and fundraising.
The ALA in Georgia implements many programs throughout our area, including healthy air initiatives, asthma education programs, lung disease research, and smoking cessation clinics. A major role of staff is obtaining the funds to implement these programs. Much of these funds are raised through events. We have three major events in the Atlanta area: Power of Breathe Women’s Fashion Luncheon held in March, The Fight For Air CLIMB, a unique vertical run in a highrise and the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is held in November.
Summer and fall interns will primarily help with planning of the Power of Breathe Fashion Luncheon and the Fight For Air CLIMB.
Duties may include:
-creating and implementing marketing strategies
-creating social media content
-coordinating event setup and activities
-researching possible sponsorship opportunities
-recruiting teams and volunteers to participate in the event
-editing event websites
Additionally, there will be an opportunity to promote and assist in facilitation of our lung disease programs for those who are interested.
Skills:
-Interest in learning more about the non-profit sector
-Excellent written and oral communication
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
-Demonstrates a professional demeanor in dealing with the public at all times
-Organized and attentive to detail
Hours: 8-15 hours/week. Hours are flexible within office hours (9 AM-4 PM).
