About Villages
Walnut Creek Village is one of a group of 200+ established and 140 forming Villages throughout the country. Our purpose is to help seniors with services and social connections that supplement their interactions with family and friends. The goal is to have our seniors stay in their own homes as long as possible. We provide volunteers to assist with driving, gardening, pet sitting, and other small tasks that become harder to handle as we age. We also provide referrals to professionals for hire to do more substantial jobs or tasks that require licensing or other certifications.
Rather than a physical location where people live, a Village is a dynamic association of people helping one another to thrive in place.
Walnut Creek VillageWalnut Creek Village opened September 25, 2017. We partner with other local Villages, Lamorinda, Clayton Valley, to pool resources for finding preferred providers and co-host various social events. We are looking for a Finance Team Leader to join us.
The Finance Team Leader handles all finances for Walnut Creek Village and provides financial advice and analysis to the Walnut Creek Village Advisory Committee. The Finance Team Leader ensures all receipts are deposited, expenses paid, and an accurate accounting is made of all transactions.
The Finance Team Leader works at home and attends monthly Advisory Committee meetings and major Village events.
Routine duties require 15-20 hours per month. More hours are required for budgeting, major events, and special projects.
ResponsibilitiesWalnut Creek Village is fiscally sponsored by Community Initiatives (CI). The Finance Team Leader is the Village liaison to CI. Specifically, the Finance Team Leader:
- Provides financial guidance to the Village leadership group
- Handles receipts and disbursements
- Prepares monthly reports
- Reviews financial reports
- Prepares budget
- Controls and reports on WeDidIt
- Controls and reports on Eventbrite
- Previous Accounting experience is required
- Minimum education includes successful completion of basic accounting courses at college level
- Vital skills: proficient with current personal computer equipment and applications, Excel proficiency, basic knowledge of non-profit taxation law, critical thinking skills

Description
As we age, we need strong social connections. Walnut Creek Village is a community within a community led by older adults who share their skills, support, and expertise with each other to navigate the challenges and opportunities of aging. We offer members the resources and connections to explore and make choices for how to live meaningfully now and into their future. The Village provides needed services such as transportation, home maintenance and repair and tech support, a well as referrals to screened professional service providers.
