Internship Position
TITLE: Volunteer Programs Intern
REPORTS TO: Volunteer Coordinator
LOCATION: NKLA Pet Adoption Center {1845 Pontius Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90025}
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The NKLA Pet Adoption Center is looking for a qualified intern to join our team. As a non-profit we have a very large volunteer base and it is constantly growing. We’re seeking an intern who can provide administrative and onsite support to the Volunteer Coordinator and the Best Friends Los Angeles volunteer program.
This intern should be prepared to join a fast-paced environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in coordinating volunteers and learning about animal welfare.
Part time and full time interns may apply. This internship offered for academic credit. You must be a participant in an accredited academic internship program. This is an unpaid internship and housing is not provided. Start date is flexible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Act as on-site lead for volunteers when Volunteer Coordinator is not in
* Manage inquiries to prospective and current volunteers via phone and email under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator
* Coordinate weekly volunteer trainings
* Assist with planning and coordinating volunteers for large-scale special events
* Data entry into Digital Cheetah, PetPoint and other databases
* Other duties, as identified by Volunteer Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Competency in MS Office applications and Google (including email and shared documents)
* Good communications skills, both oral and written
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Team player
* Ability to advocate Best Friends approach and mission
REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position you must be currently enrolled in a college/university (open to both undergraduate and graduate students). *If undergraduate, must currently be in your final year.
CREDIT:
College credit toward related major, minor or general electives.
START DATE:
On or near the first day of the semester, negotiable.
END DATE:
On or near the last day of the semester, negotiable.
HOURS PER WEEK:
To be determined, dependent upon total number of hours required to complete internship. Preferably 10-15 hours per week.
