Mission Statement
The Austin Furniture Bank uplifts people and transforms homes by providing basic furnishings to families who have none. Rescue Furniture > Transform Homes > Uplift People
Description
Our Vision: We envision a Central Texas where no good furniture goes to waste and no one goes without the furniture and household necessities required to transform their dwelling into a home.
Since October 2015, over 280 clients served. Each client received an average of 4 pieces of furniture, so that’s:
- about 1,200 pieces of furniture saved, (50 pieces per month) plus
- about 80 kitchens’ worth of pots, pans, plates, glasses, and silverware and
- about 200 good, usable mattresses saved from landfill
- Deliveries: We’ve been operating since October of 2015. We’ve been delivering on 70% of the weekends from then to now, and there are 104 weekends, that’s 73 weekends. Each delivery weekend takes 8 hours and 3 people, that’s 1,752 volunteer hours for deliveries
