Commonpoint Central Queens are looking for CPA's and tax preparers for the upcoming tax season.

Volunteer Tax Preparers will be tasked with completing high quality tax returns for low- and middle-income Queens residents. Our ideal tax preparer would have a high interest and motivation for building on their tax preparation experience, however, tax preparation experience is not necessary. We provide training! The preparer should also have a passion for helping the members of our community who need it most. Most of all, our volunteers should be able to practice patience, good customer service skills, be ready to manage a high caseload, and have a great sense of humor! This is a great opportunity to build valuable work experience, meet new friends, and help people who need it. This is also a great opportunity for retired CPA's to give back to the community.

3 Hour Express Training:Sign up toattend an in-person tax law course and complete IRS Certification at home

During the session, you will learn the steps to become a certified tax preparer and basic tax law. This training will cover Basic Tax Law, Tax Slayer Pro software, and New York State tax returns. We will also give you instructions, tips, and tricks on how to complete your certification at home. *There is also 3 Hour Advance certification options. (This is happening at CQ on 12/11)

6 Hour Training + Certification: Sign up to attend an in-person basic tax law course and complete IRS Certification in the room with support from the instructor.

During the session, you will learn the steps to become a certified tax preparer and basic tax law. This training will cover Basic Tax Law, Tax Slayer Pro software, and New York State tax returns. This training will also allow volunteers to begin their certification exam in the room with the opportunity of the trainer’s assistance. *If you choose, you can get certificated at advance level during these sessions.

This is a volunteer opportunity but we are prepared to offer a per diem to cover food and transportation costs.

We will work with your schedule but are looking for help on Thursdays (9-6pm), Fridays (9am -1pm), and Sundays (10-4pm). We are seeking candidates who are willing to work out of our Forest Hills location.
