ORGANIZATION: Youth Tutoring Program

Do you want to make a difference in the life of an underserved student? The Youth Tutoring Program of Catholic Community Services needs caring and dedicated volunteers like you to be mentors and tutors for students living in six low-income housing communities around Seattle.

Our Mission at Catholic Community Services

Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and the Gospel imperative, Catholic Community answers the Gospel call to loving and compassionate service with particular concern for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death and the dignity of the human person. Our employees and volunteers come from many faith traditions to serve and support poor and vulnerable people through the provision of quality, integrated services and housing. Our focus is on those individuals, children, families, and communities struggling with poverty and the effects of intolerance and racism. We actively join with others to work for justice.

Our Mission at Youth Tutoring Program

To tutor, guide and inspire vulnerable youth living in low income and public housing to achieve academic success.

About the Youth Tutoring Program

YTP serves a diverse group of students, many who come from immigrant and refugee families. We match tutors and students 1:1 to foster the best mentoring and tutoring relationships. We focus on skill building so our students can catch-up and get ahead in school.

Not only do we train our volunteers to be effective tutors, we provide our volunteers with the tools they need (such as individualized tutor plans and skill-building activities) to make a difference!

We accept new tutors all year long!

We have six tutoring centers throughout Seattle:

High Point in West Seattle: [M - Th]

Jackson Park* in Lake City: [M - Th]

Lake Washington Apartments in Rainier Beach: [M & W]
