City of Peoria Youth Sports is in need of volunteer basketball coaches for the Summer season! As a volunteer sports coach, you'll have the opportunity to be a positive role model for our youth while teaching sportsmanship, basketball skills, and teamwork.
Coaches are required to attend 1 Monday practice per week and 1 Wednesday game per week for 7 weeks (7 practices, 6 games).
MANDATORY Coaches meeting will be on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00pm located at Rio Vista Recreation Center.
Peoria sports leagues are a recreational, non-competitive setting with equal playing time.
As a coach, you'll receive:
- Coaching credit for future season
- Volunteer coach T-shirt
- Indoor gym space reserved for practice
- Practice equipment
- Training at coach meeting
- Resources such as practice plans, line up sheets, drills, etc.
- First practice is June 3rd.
- Games are Wednesdays at various Peoria school gyms (evening games). First game is JUNE 5.
- Basketball age divisions are: 5-6 and 7-8 COED, 9-10 boys, 9-10 girls, 11-13 boys, 11-13 girls.
- Ages 18+

- Attend coach meeting (Wednesday, May 22nd, 6:00PM)

The City of Peoria Youth Sports Division relies on volunteer coaches in order to have a successful program. Our volunteer coaches act as leaders and mentors for the youth in the Peoria community.
