Safe Passage, a 501(C)3 non-profit development-focused organization, is seeking volunteers to participate on our Creative Expression Team in 2018. The Safe Passage Creative Expression Program inspires self-expression that fosters self-esteem, leadership, confidence, and responsibility, using the creative process to motivate our students to stay in school, stand strong against social risks such as drugs, violence, and gang involvement while creating a culture of peace that empowers the individual, family, and community. Description

Known in Guatemala as Camino Seguro, Safe Passage's mission is to empower the poorest at-risk children of families who live in the Guatemala City garbage dump community by creating opportunities and fostering dignity through the power of education. Safe Passage is a secular, non-political organization.

Within a safe and caring environment, we provide a comprehensive and integrated program that fosters hope, good health, educational achievement, self-sufficiency, self esteem and confidence for our affliates of all ages in efforts to promote positive change.

International volunteers are a vital and essential part of our program. They work in collaboration with our Guatemalan staff and national volunteers to provide educational support, promoting critical and creative thinking, as well as to provide positive reinforcement and emotional support.

The majority of our volunteers work directly with the students, however, we have a host of positions available for all different types of skills. Please check out our website for a list of volunteer opportunities.
