General Description:
The Special Events Assistant Intern will assist GIR staff over the spring, summer and fall of 2019 with the organization and execution of special events; primarily ABCD’s baseball and basketball sporting events Field of Dreams and Hoop Dreams, the Annual Community Heroes Celebration and other smaller cultivation events.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist staff with preparing minutes and information for meetings and prepare agenda items
- Provide accurate and timely assistance and work closely with GIR staff on all administrative functions
- Research and book meetings with potential event sponsors
- Track progress on special events
- Assist in the logistical execution of events, including but not limited to guest lists, seating, scheduling, etc.
- Perform other tasks as needed
Skills & Qualifications:
- Candidates must be customer oriented and possess exceptional organizational, oral and written, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate initiative to follow up on outstanding tasks and be proactive
- Candidates should also have a passion for doing good and be knowledgeable about marketing, public relations, and digital promotion sources such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Interest in basketball and baseball a plus.
Length of Commitment:
April 2019 - ongoing
Schedule (including day and time if applicable):
Monday - Friday
11am - 5pm
Candidates must be available 2 days per week with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
