CTN has recently launched digital literacy programs in Austin, Texas and we are seeking volunteers to work in our non-profit partner computer labs.
As a computer tutor, you work one-on-one with learners, providing instruction that responds to learners’ needs in real-time. This can include teaching basic skills such as using a mouse and keyboard, searching the Internet for information, communicating via social media, using e-mail and Skype, and creating documents such as resumes.
Experienced volunteer teachers may be able to facilitate a computer training for a specific tool or skill in classes up to 12 learners in senior centers and affordable housing developments around the Austin area. Some popular topics are internet safely, google drive, graphic design (Adobe), and social media (LinkedIn for work readiness). If you are an expert in a specific area and enjoy helping others learn please reach out and tell us about it!
Computer Teaching AssistantExperienced volunteers may be able to be placed as assistants, translators, or instructors in classes of up to 12 learners in senior centers and affordable housing developments around the Austin Area. Curriculum is currently available in English and Spanish.
