Volunteer Program Description

Orlando Neighborhood Improvement Corporation (ONIC) is a non-profit housing development company that has provided affordable housing in Central Florida since 1989.

ONIC’s Mission: To be a Leader in Central Florida in providing stable, thriving communities of opportunity through quality, affordable housing, with engaged residents in a service enriched environment

To this end, the Resident Services Program has been established where a planned range of activities and services are implemented through partnerships with existing community resources and key volunteers.

*All volunteers of the Orlando Neighborhood Improvement Corporation are oriented in a formal session where expectations and review of roles and training is explored, this includes completion of a short Volunteer Application process.*

Volunteer Opportunity

Holiday Banquet

• ONIC hosts an annual holiday banquet for 500 residents featuring a festive dinner, dance, entertainment, and gifts for families. This tradition is in its twelfth year, and is made possible by the donation and sponsorship of Mr. Rosen. Also, the festivities occur at one of the Rosen Hotels. The Holiday Celebration is a community building event driven purely by donations, sponsorships, and volunteers. It is often the only time that ONIC’s families experience the unity and collective festivities, so the main objective is to ensure that they experience a memorable and awesome time. Your support and volunteerism is necessary to make this a reality, and ensures a successful and fulfilling experience for our families, it will certainly help to make for a happier holiday for all!

The major volunteer support needed is for table hosts-

• Table Hosts
  • Responsibility as a TEAM member is to ensure that the residents have a great time.
  • Positive, welcoming and upbeat attitude. We want them to have a "Disney Experience".
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Establish relationships with people at your table
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities, such as dancing, pictures with Santa, etc.
  • There are 10 people including the host at one table
