Volunteers secure and furnish an apartment for the family and aid them in settling into their new home. Tasks may include:
*searching for an apartment, facilitate lease, insure IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services - our parent NPO) compliance, act a liaison between landlord and family
*educating family on landlord and neighbor relations
*organizing donations/purchase of household goods and furniture to prepare apartment for the arrival of
*arranging pickup, storage and transportation of donations to apartment.
*managing basic home maintenance requests
*coordinating clothing donations
*preparing apartment for family's arrival - purchase of initial groceries, preparing culturally appropriate
meal, prepare a welcoming environment.
