ORGANIZATION: Metropolitan Community Services- T.O.U.C.H.

  • 3 people are interested

We are seeking individuals who are interested in joining a non-profit organization with a great mission and team-oriented staff.

We're in need of a front desk receptionist to answer phones, greet visitors, light typing and filing, create Word/Excel Documents, perform tasks/searches on the internet, and other various day-to-day activities.

Additional responsibilities include customer service and maintenance for our electronics thrift store. We are encouraging the community to Go Green with their unwanted electronics. Community members donate old electronics and we either de-manufacture them so no parts go to a landfill, or we resell them at a low cost in our thrift store. This also includes researching various products, describing and posting products on eBay, Craigslist, and other on-line sites.

Individuals will work in the thrift store, assisting customers when needed while accomplishing a variety of other tasks. Basic computer knowledge and good customer services skills necessary.

We appreciate all of our volunteers and they help our agency to be an active part of our community. Thank you!

Mission Statement

T.O.U.C.H. (Teaching Opportunity Unity by Connecting Hearts) serves at-risk and vulnerable populations in Central Ohio. Our mission is to "reach out and touch" the lives of individuals and families, empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency, positive relationships, and economic success. We help to restore communities by restoring lives.

Description

MCS (Metropolitan Community Services) was founded in 1984 to serve vulnerable populations in the Columbus area. In 2008, T.O.U.C.H. (Teaching Opportunity Unity by Connecting Hearts) joined MCS to provide mentoring and workforce development to formerly incarcerated men and women.

Originally focused exclusively on reentry, T.O.U.C.H. expanded its services to at-risk youth in 2010. Our agency now provides mentoring, workforce development, educational guidance, case management, and basic needs assistance both to low-income youth and to pre- and post-release adults.
