ORGANIZATION: Second Harvest of Silicon Valley

Volunteers are needed to help with monthly distributions at Second Harvest Food Bank's Family Harvest sites. Family Harvest provides food and educational programs to low-income families with minor children. This is a hands-on volunteer activity and does require some lifting and regular movement. Activities could include assisting with room set up, unloading and moving food inside a community room, bagging fresh produce, distributing food to clients, and clean up. This is a great chance for volunteers to interface with our clients.

Note: this is a good job for individuals or groups who can do heavy lifting

Qualifications:

  • Able to lift 20+ lbs. while in motion
  • Able to stand in place for 2 hrs.
  • Flexible and willing to help where needed
  • Welcoming to the families
  • Be in good physical health
  • Dependable and on time
  • Maintain safe working conditions and follow all safety rules
  • Professional conduct and responsibility
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Requirement: must wear closed toe shoes and long pants, no shorts or tank tops

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each month.
