Mission Statement
A nonprofit organization that helps families thrive by providing safe, convenient, and highest quality learning opportunities and care for children in Greater Philadelphia.
Description
Montgomery Early Learning Centers (MELC) was founded in 1964 as the Day Care Association of Montgomery County, Inc. to address unmet needs for child care locally, especially those of low-income families. Having started with just one, small site in Ambler, PA, MELC has now grown to serve more than 1,400 each week, ages 6 weeks to 12 years across 19 different sites throughout Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
In 1996, the agency began doing business as Montgomery Early Learning Centers to more accurately reflect the program’s focus on high quality educational curriculum and school readiness support.
We are dedicated to providing children not only with exceptional and nurturing care, but an environment that will encourage development and contribute to future academic success during the most important years for a child’s physical, social and cognitive development. We work to employ the most innovative and creative means of teaching early learners, dedicated to our philosophy that learning through play is the most effective.
