Staffing a health fair, or talking with your lunch bunch about how to avoid fraud and scams - it all makes a difference.
Ohio SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) is a project of Pro Seniors, a non-profit organization offering free legal and long term care advice to older adults. Ohio SMP Peer Educators teach seniors about Medicare fraud and identity theft to help keep them safe from these crimes. They do this through presentations and handing out literature at events seniors attend. To be successful, Peer Educators participate in online training. Our Peer Educator opportunities typically occur Mon.-Fri., 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
This work is critical to the well-being of older adults since this is the most targeted group by fraudsters.
Although experience in public speaking and providing presentations is helpful, it is not required.
