Ohio SMP* Volunteer Peer Educators teach older Ohioans how to stay safe from healthcare fraud. This knowledge is critical to the well-being of seniors who are the most victimized of any group. In addition, dollars lost to Medicare fraud cost taxpayers billions of dollars each year.
Traditionally, peer educators have shared our SMP message through public speaking and/or passing out literature at events attended by seniors. Currently, during this time of social distancing, they are finding ways to be interactive remotely: email, phone, zoom, whatever medium they use that allows remote interaction.
Ohio SMP is a project of Pro Seniors, a non-profit organization providing free legal and long-term care assistance to older adults.
*Senior Medicare Patrol
Ohio SMP is supported by Grant #90MPPG0005-01-00 from the Administration for Community Living (ACL).
