Join McKenzie River Trust and the Institute for Applied Ecology in our effort to plant 9,000 meadow/prairie species at Coyote Spencer Wetlands. Located where Coyote and Spencer Creeks come together in the Long Tom River Watershed, the Coyote Spencer Wetlands contains over three miles of streams and 158 acres of mixed forest and wet meadows. The exceptional variety of native plants on the property can be found in few other places in the Willamette Valley.
We will be planting plugs, bulbs and bare-root stock. This day is from 9:30am-3pm.
You can help to protect and care for this special land. Sometimes called the 'nurseries of nature’ and compared to coral reefs or rainforests for the diversity of life that they support, wetlands are exceptionally productive ecosystems. Wetlands are integral to healthy ecosystems because they filter sediments from water and provide habitat for numerous fish and wildlife species. Wetlands also offer nesting or feeding grounds to more than half of all North American bird species and provide a home for an estimated 31% of all plant species.

Protecting special lands. The McKenzie River Trust acquires property interests in land with clear public benefits to ensure that those values will be available to people for many generations.
Restoring natural systems. The Trust works to enhance and reestablish the native vegetation, water cycles and other functional ecosystem elements appropriate to the places we protect.
Connecting people to places they care about. The Trust provides site tours, education events, demonstration and research sites, and information about the projects it manages to encourage public support for conservation efforts throughout the region.
