What is Hospice?
Hospice care is a type of care and philosophy of care that focuses on the palliation of a chronically ill terminally ill patient's pain and symptoms and attending to their emotional and spiritual needs.
Being a volunteer
As a Hospice volunteer, your comfort, companionship and presence will bring joy to a terminally ill patient. Volunteers spend time with Hospice patients in many ways such as:
- Listening to or playing music
- Playing a game, watching a movie or reading a book
- Providing just your presence
- Caregiver relief sitting (as needed by the primary caregiver(s))
