The Land Trust Project Manager preserves critical open space and environmentally sensitive lands utilizing nonprofit land acquisition techniques and sound business practices. The Flanders Land Acquisition Committee works to acquire and preserve important open space parcels in Woodbury, CT and in surrounding towns.
Responsibilities:
- Develop guidelines and establish priorities for land conservation whether in fee or through easements.
- Identify, select, and then negotiate to acquire properties ensuring transactions are accomplished under specific standards and defined practices.
- Research individual properties to determine whether they meet priorities and should be considered for conservation by Flanders.
- Work with land owners to acquire properties following approved procedures.
- Increase public awareness of Flanders properties and educate public on importance of land conservation through programs coordinated under adult and family education.
- Collaborate with other land preservation entities in an effort to acquire and steward important open space... at the regional level.

- Flanders holds in trust more than 2,100 acres of open space in Woodbury, Bethlehem, Southbury and Middlebury, CT.
- Holdings include seven nature preserves and sanctuaries
- Stewards more than 40 open space properties, managing and monitoring the properties to preserve their natural beauty and care for the system through astute land-use practices
- Organization plays active role with municipal regulatory committees and regional and state organizations to identify opportunities for preserving more land in future
