St. Paul Public Housing Agency has four family sites, two of which have computer labs in their respective community centers. We are in need of volunteers to teach basic computer classes at McDonough Community Center. Topics could include: general computer operations, how to use a mouse, surfing the internet, how to use MS Word or Excel. The populations living at our family sites are: low-income, multi-cultural and range in age from 0-60.
Computer skills vary but there is a need for digital literacy to help residents gain: literacy skills, access community resources, keyboarding and education-homework. interest and willingness to work with other cultures and under-served households useful.

The PHA helps families and individuals with low incomes achieve greater stability and self reliance by providing safe, affordable, quality housing, and links to community services.
Description
Our 4,262 HUD-subsidized public housing rental units are well maintained and fully occupied (consistently over 99%), providing safe, affordable housing to about 10,000 low income residents. The PHA has received HUD's "High Performer" rating each year under the "Public Housing Management Assessment Program" (PHMAP) and the "Public Housing Assessment Program" (PHAS).
The PHA coordinates a host of service programs for residents, including "welfare to work" programs, homeownership programs, community policing, assisted living services for frail elderly and disabled residents, and others.
