Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
THE MEDICAL TEAM Hospice is looking for volunteers who want to dedicate their time to providing compassionate companionship to our patients. As a volunteer you may make visits at a patients’ private home or at a nursing facility where they reside. *most patients live in a facility, also, you may choose to not visit in private homes. The role of a volunteer would be to spend quality time with our patients engaging them in conversation and/or activities. A volunteer and patient may do activities together such as, play cards, read books, watch TV/movies, listen to music, go for walks, shopping, paint nails, beauty care, games, arts/crafts and other numerous leisure activities. Our patients enjoy music therapy, art, and pet therapy if available. Also, there are opportunities to help with the facilities' activities/events.
