Care For Friends provides food, health services and community to Chicago's homeless. Through our flagship Food for Friends program, we provide over 9,000 custom-made hot meals to guests every year. Care For Friends is looking for a volunteer accountant to help prepare for our first ever audit. The volunteer will help the Board of Directors conduct a review of the financial reporting process, along with the financial results. This is a short term project with flexibility to be conducted remotely or onsite (through Q2 2018), along with other opportunities for long-term involvement. Description
Our flagship program is "Food for Friends" - where we create a safe space for anyone requiring a meal to gather in community for a no-cost hot lunch served in sit-down, family style with dignity and respect.
Other services are available during this gathering time, including haircuts, a health clinic, clothes closet, and toiletries distribution. Additionally, representatives from our various partner organizations begin to make connections with our guests - establishing trusting relationships that will ultimately allow our guests to connect with the services they need to achieve a better quality of life.
