Our Docent Family

Our museum is closed, but we still wish to engage with our community and create virtual museum tours and educational videos. Help us write a script and present your video tour.

No worries, you don't need to know anything about this topic. This opportunity gives you the ability to prepare and learn while shooting videos for our online followers. You don't need to worry about mistakes, lacking knowledge, etc...since you will be able to record your videos and edit them.

Just bring some passion for history and curiosity to learn new things.

Concerning Covid-19:
You will be working in safe conditions with little interaction with others. We practice social-distancing and make sure that you stay safe. Our museum is closed to the public, and we keep all our volunteers safely spaced out throughout the museum.

About Czech Center Museum Houston

Location:

4920 San Jacinto, Houston, TX 77004, US

Mission Statement

The Czech Center Museum Houston provides unique education experiences based on authentic objects, art, music, stories and lives of Czechs, Slovaks and people of all cultures, who left their country to seek liberty and democracy in America. Our purpose is to inspire people to learn from those who sought freedom despite being occupied by oppressing rulers and systems. The museum strives to be an accessible resource, actively encouraging the study, appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of diverse cultures and traditions. We promote art, music and dance as well as celebrate history and stories of immigrant experiences shared by Americans. The Czech Center Museum Houston is proud to be one of Houston’s eighteen fine museums, dedicated to the exploration and preservation of art, culture & history, and serve as a catalyst for discussion of all heritages.

Description

Our intent is to teach people to be proud of their own culture while teaching them not just about the Eastern European countries but also about art, culture and heritage from other countries. The Czech Center Museum Houston is an elegant, small museum focusing on the education of European art & history in a global context.

Are you interested in arts as well as history, than become a docent at the Czech Center Museum Houston and enjoy once per week the feeling of a small baroque palace in Texas, Houston!

We are all volunteers, even the founders, Effie & Bill Rosene except for our Event Coordinator and Development Director. There are many fun events held throughout the year and we welcome you to participate.
