Experience first-hand how you can make an immediate and lasting impact on the life on an animal that needs your help! In-Home Heroes is the Michigan Humane Society's short-term, in-home foster care program. It saves lives by helping animals who need a little extra TLC prior to adoption!

Foster Caregivers in our program foster animals who are not quite ready for adoption. This could be for a variety of reasons including: illness, injury, the animals are too young for adoption, etc. While the animals are in the care of foster homes, Foster Caregivers provide shelter, exercise and attention as well as dispense medication as necessary. We provide all the supplies needed for basic care including food, litter, medication and instruction as needed.

Foster Care opportunities are available at our Detroit, Westland and Rochester Hills locations. Once you've been approved as a Foster Caregiver, you'll receive weekly emails from us describing what types of animals need Caregivers. You will have the opportunity to let us know what animal(s) are a good fit for your home.

Consistent, reliable transportation is required for this volunteer role.

Sign-up today and we'll reach out to you about training and next steps!
