Help Others to File Taxes

ORGANIZATION: People Inc. Northern Piedmont Regional Office

People Inc.
Every person needs support from others. People Incorporated promotes the dignity of individuals and families, moves people into the economic mainstream, and works to develop existing strengths and resources within communities. All of our efforts are directed by the concerns, hopes, needs and dreams of the people we serve.

Reach out to those who truly need your assistance. Each year a group of volunteers work together at the St. James Episcopal Church in Warrenton, VA, to help those who can't afford to file their taxes through a private income tax filer. You can help someone who doesn't understand taxes and can't pay $300-$400 to have their taxes filed without taking that money from their food or housing budget.

Train to work with a great group of people! The VITA program offers free tax help to people with low to moderate income, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and others who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Helping in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program can be rewarding while serving a vital role in your community.

As a Tax Preparer, you will be trained to successfully certify to prepare taxes and use filing software. Training will be given and group meetings held until you are comfortable with your role as preparer.

You can start to train at your own pace before the season begins. Please contact us for more information.
