Literacy DuPage Overivew

Founded in 1972, Literacy DuPage is a community-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide accessible and customized English language tutoring to help adults achieve independence.

We are supported through generous grants from the Illinois Secretary of State, DuPage County, DuPage Community Foundation, Ron McDaniel Foundation, and other generous foundations, individuals and businesses.

We recruit and train volunteers to tutor adult learners at mutually convenient times and locations throughout DuPage County. Last year 400 volunteers gave over 20,000 hours of their time to serve 500 adult learners.

Social Media and Marketing Collaborator Volunteer Description

The Social Media and Marketing Collaborator is a part-time volunteer position and will assist the Volunteer Outreach and Marketing Manager along with the Marketing Committee in community outreach and marketing.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in creating social media content
• Reach out to local fraternal organizations and places of worship to introduce Literacy DuPage and set up meetings to meet with groups
• Attend and represent Literacy DuPage at different events
• Attend Marketing Committee Meetings
• Help drop off and put up Literacy DuPage materials in the community

Essential Skills

• Experience in Social Media and Marketing
• Excellent writing ability (required) as well as excellent oral communication and public speaking skills - desire and ability to attract and inspire volunteer tutors
• Strong organizational and computer skills required including the following: Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) and knowledge of graphic design programs
• Willingness to learn new programs and technologies
• Must drive a car, have a valid driver’s license and have valid insurance

Location: Naperville, IL

The Social Media and Marketing Collaborator position is approximately 4-10 hours per week and reports directly to the Volunteer Recruitment and Marketing Manager. DuPage County resident required.
