Literacy DuPage Overview

Founded in 1972, Literacy DuPage is a community-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide accessible and customized English language tutoring to help adults achieve independence.

We are supported through generous grants from the Illinois Secretary of State, DuPage County, DuPage Community Foundation, Ron McDaniel Foundation, and other generous foundations, individuals and businesses.

We recruit and train volunteers to tutor adult learners at mutually convenient times and locations throughout DuPage County. Last year 400 volunteers gave over 20,000 hours of their time to serve 500 adult learners.

IT Volunteer Position

The IT Volunteer is a part-time volunteer position and will report directly to the Executive Director and work with the Program Director to assist with computer day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Write code to update and manage Literacy DuPage’s Microsoft Access Database
• Help input information into Literacy DuPage’s Microsoft Access Database
• Create and run reports and manage data for government and foundation funders through Access when necessary
• Make recommendations where appropriate and research options for data collection processes

Essential Skills

• Strong organizational and computer skills required including the following: Microsoft Office (Access, Excel and Word)
• Willingness to learn new programs and technologies
• Must drive a car, have a valid driver’s license and have valid insurance

Location: Naperville, IL

The IT Volunteer position is approximately 4 hours per week and reports directly to the Executive Director. DuPage County resident preferred. Interested and qualified candidates should email Therese McMahon at tmcmahon@literacydupage.org.
