ORGANIZATION: SPECIALLY ADAPTED RESOURCE CLUB

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 7 people are interested

If you are wanting to share your passion for cooking, exercise, art, yoga, meditation, music, photography, videography, literature, sensory skills, etc, Sparc is looking for volunteers to lead 30- 60 minute activities at our clubhouses.

We are looking for volunteers to commit to a weekly donation of 30 minutes. If you can come only twice a month, we would like you to commit to staying for an hour. Some activities don’t take a full hour (meditation, exercise, yoga), while others could (cooking, music, literature, photography).

If you are interested in only one clubhouse, that works for us too; if you live in Arlington, we have a club there! If you live in Reston, we have two clubs there! We realize that time is valuable and want to make it as doable as possible. Please ask us about our clubhouse locations throughout Northern Virginia!

Perfect for college or graduate students (sororities or fraternities often need service hours) who want experience on their resume. Social work, education, psychology, therapeutic recreation, etc.

**Ask us about internship opportunities too**

We look forward to working with you!

Mission Statement

To provide dynamic, enduring learning opportunities for adults with life-long disAbilities in a natural community setting.

Description

SPARC Solutions empowers adults with disAbilities to live as engaged citizens by giving back to their community through service projects, acquiring new vocational skills through entrepreneurial projects, and practicing life skills through leisure-learning guided lessons. SPARC enriches the lives of these young adults by enabling them to pursue hobbies and pastimes they may not otherwise be able to enjoy. We provide a natural setting and supports that allow participants to learn and engage in sports, cooking, photography, art and music, use computers, participate in book clubs, enjoy the outdoors and build strong, meaningful friendships. Though our community centers are relatively small, they offer our club members a world of opportunity
