Volunteer purpose and impact
The Grocery Shopper Volunteer will provide assistance related to maintaining safe and sanitary living conditions for individuals who choose to remain at home. This volunteer will assist the Home Care Shopper in organizing shopping lists, going shopping, and delivering and storing household supplies, groceries, and medicines. Volunteering as a Shopper with Home Care will allow our staff to serve more clients, and allow clients to build relationships with more people in their community.
Responsibilities and key deliverables- Assist with planning and organizing shopping lists
- Shop for a client using a prepared list
- Deliver goods to client in their home
- Converse with client(s) and assist Lead Shopper with wellness checks
QualificationsVolunteer should be organized and have some experience working with the elderly. Volunteer must be kind, conversational, and understanding of vulnerable populations.
Working conditionsVolunteer will be working in the LSS-SW Home Care Office, doing shopping at grocery stores and pharmacies, sitting in the car, and entering the homes of clients. Volunteer should be comfortable walking, sitting, standing.
Clearances required & trainingFingerprint Clearance Card and TB Test are required to interact with clients. Volunteer orientation will be required, and task-specific training will be provided as needed.
Location & timeframe7am-3pm, Monday through Thursday. 6303 E Tanque Verde Rd, Tucson AZ 85715.
Volunteer will choose how many days per week/month to participate. Requested commitment of at least 3 months.
