The newly formed OUSD Retention Team has taken on the significant challenge of helping to retain and develop OUSD teachers. In the midst of the national teacher shortage, this means helping teachers with emergency permits to reach full credential status, as well as to access supports for testing requirements and programs. We also are building a comprehensive support program to fund classified school support staff to earn their teaching credential and move into the classroom. As an intern, you will assist with the program management of these two vital support programs, as well as to help manage the data and outreach for each.

Description

Oakland Unified School District is seeking community members to volunteer in schools as classroom helpers, tutors, mentors, coaches, guest speakers, special event and beautification project assistants.

Volunteers must register through the Family and Community Office of OUSD. The Family and Community Office provides training and assistance with placement at school sites.
