Volunteer Opportunity:

2017 YMCA Christmas Run - December 22 nd and December 23 rd
Not racing but love to be part of the action? The YMCA would not be able to host this event without the help of great volunteers like you! Help is needed both on and off the course.

This holiday tradition is a fun and festive way to celebrate Christmas! There are two opportunities to volunteer; Packet Pick up and Day of Race. Like many races there will be Packet Pick-up that will occur the day before the race on Friday December 22 nd from 2:00pm - 8:00pm at the Cathedral of the Rockies (717 N 11th St Boise, 83702). Then on race day we are needing helping hands from 7:00am - 1:00pm. The Christmas Run has 3 distances for runners; 1 Mile Reindeer Dash, 2 mile run, and then a 6 mile run. All distances start in front of Boise High School directly behind the Downtown YMCA. This event has plenty of great areas that you can support the runners at:

We are looking for volunteers to help in the following areas:

Packet Stuffing Elves (10 volunteers needed)

-Help fill packets full of stocking goodies

Packet Pickup (15 volunteers needed)

- Helping participants receive their bibs and packets.

- Distributing racer t-shirts after racers have picked up their packets

Festive Holiday Decorators (5 volunteers needed)

- Help decorate at packet pickup or on race day

Day of Race Packet Pickup (13 volunteers needed)

-Helping participants receive their bibs and packets at late packet pickup

Costume Contest Judges (5 volunteers needed)

-Help judge all the festive costumes that racers are wearing

Starting Line Set up (10 Volunteers needed)

-Setting up flagging, banners, tents, scaffolding in the race area.

Course Cheer Boosters and Road Guards (40 volunteers needed)

-Cheering on and making sure all runners know where they are going and to assist in course monitoring.

Award Distribution (5 volunteers needed)

-We have many categories for runners to place on the podium. Be the one to congratulate them and give them their awards and medals.

Refuel Station (5 Volunteers needed)

-There will be hot cocoa, hot soup, and bagels for the racers to refuel. Be there to hand them some fuel to replenish their tired muscles.

Post-Race Take Down (10 volunteers needed)

-Taking down race equipment, course material and cleaning up race area

Water/Aid Stations (10 volunteers needed)

-Providing water to runners throughout the course.
