The SoulDeevas are looking for experienced coaches to join our coaching team and help us develop our new competitive pom, stomp & shake cheer teams in NJ. We are looking to develop two teams: (a) junior high school (grades 6 to 8) and (b) high school (grades 9 to 12). Please tell us which team you would be interested in working with.
Stomp & shake cheerleading focuses on the group performance of choreographed percussive, rhythmic foot stomping, (individual) hand clapping, leg lifts, and African American/Caribbean originated dance moves. For an example, please view https://youtu.be/rDidpC3MD5A
We will consider someone with traditional cheer experience who can learn the Stomp & Shake technique - as that will give our girls an edge in competition.
For the rest of 2017, we will be developing the program for our team- so there will be one or two conference calls a month to throw out ideas. We will also work to plan community workshops for kids in Rahway, Newark and other areas of NJ, but the teams will be based in Rahway. These workshops are designed to expose girls to competitive cheer, dance and step and to recruit for our teams. You will also help us build content for our social media pages to build our brand and gain excitement.
Our desire is to have official auditions for our teams in early 2018 to give parents a chance to recover from the holidays. Coaches would be then be responsible for helping with recruitment, managing auditions and coaching their teams - preparing them for performances and competitions.
We have a great vision for the young ladies who will become part of the SoulDeevas which includes local and national exposure. We are looking for coaches who can be dedicated to their teams and who can help us put the SoulDeevas on the map.

Friends of MJHS ("Friends") is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of generating contributions, pledges and funds for the development and ongoing support of Citadel Academy Prep School (CAPS), a school that will provide students in grades 6-8 with a high quality Christian education through a well balanced, yet challenging curriculum that ministers to the spirit, soul and body.
Friends will also provide funds, management and ongoing support of The SoulDeevas Performing Arts Company, a character building sports and arts program that will serve all youth regardless of their religious affiliation. The SoulDeevas will include programs that provide activities, resources and support during critical out-of-school time hours in a safe, nurturing environment that works from a strengths-based, youth development perspective.
