Nourish Pierce County service 470,000 visits each year through the power of volunteers. Food Bank Distributors directly serve our neighbors in need by assisting clients as they walk through the food bank and self select enough food for 3 meals a day for 3 days. This position requires excellent customer service and a desire to serve the community!

Job Description:

  • The Distributor will always show compassion, dignity, and respect to all clients and other volunteers.
  • Floor Lead will assign volunteers to the area that they will be working.
  • The Distributor will help the client with the number of choices they have per posted guidelines.
  • Distributors will assist clients with their choices for their food, providing suggestions on how to best use items available.
  • Distributors will up-stock and keep labels facing out.
  • Distributors will keep their distribution area clean.
    • Pull any food found on shelves that are spoiled or severely damaged.
      • Place spoilage in designated spoilage bins
    • If there is a spill in your area, block the spill, tell the Floor Lead, so that the line may be stopped and the spill can be cleaned up.
      • Break down all cardboard and place in the recycle bin outside
    • Closing shift workers are responsible for
      • Sweeping and Mop distribution area including under all shelves and refrigeration units.
All remaining perishable return to either refrigerators or freezers as required.

Shifts:
Mondays 2pm-6pm
Wednesdays 1pm-5pm
Fridays 1pm-5pm

*There is flexibility in shift start times, but volunteers are asked to stay through the end of the shift.
