ORGANIZATION: Orange County Regional History Center

Interns will be trained at the History Center to teach the field trip program offered to the school grades that visit on field trips. Students interested in completing this internship must have a desire to teach elementary aged students. In addition to teaching, the student will support the Education Department when needed with projects following the school program.

Learn rotation stations of the school program

Shadow docent and staff to learn teaching techniques for the stations

Conduct practice tours with staff.

Teach school programs once approved.

Provide bilingual (Spanish) translations to students

Set up and break down school resource stations for tours (resource carts, pioneer room, STEM activities and Courtroom B)

Research and develop curriculums

Description

The Orange County Regional History Center is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and a member of the American Alliance of Museums. The History Center includes a museum in a historic courthouse, the collection of the Historical Society of Central Florida, the Joseph L. Brechner Research Library, and Heritage Square park. It advances its mission through wide-ranging programs, permanent and traveling exhibits, and limited-run exhibitions from other prestigious institutions.
