Volunteers are needed for the College of Pharmacy Interprofessional Service Learning Course.
What is a "Poverty Simulation"?
A Poverty Simulation is an experience that helps individuals begin to understand what life is like living in poverty. During the role play Service Learning students will experience what it is like to live in poverty for a month. This activity is not a game and is based on real client experiences and their lives.
What is a volunteer's role?
Volunteers will participate as employees in a service location such as a bank, school, or a grocery store. The students in the Service Learning class will assume the identity of someone living in poverty.
What is required of volunteers?
Approximately, 30 volunteers are needed to attend a training on Thursday, November 16th from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Parking and dinner provided. The first simulation activity will take place on Wednesday, November 29th from 3pm-5pm. There will be a second simulation on January 17th from 3pm-5pm if volunteers are interested in assisting in both!

Description
The PharmD is a professional degree requiring four years of study after completion of a pre-pharmacy curriculum. Graduates will have the necessary skills to pursue licensure to practice pharmacy. With this licensure graduates may choose to pursue many different paths - the UM program is broad enough to offer extensive opportunities that lead to careers in health systems, community pharmacy, pharmaceutical companies, government and other public sector jobs, as well as careers in the academic world.
