We have multiple opportunities available. One opportunity is to assist in our emergency shelter. This can be anything from lending an ear to clients, answering a hotline, walking dogs, performing clerical duties, organizing donations for residential clients, tutoring children after school, watching children so that clients may attend group meetings, or interpreting for our Spanish speaking clients. We provide on-going training, and provide specific training if required for a specific job duty.
We are also looking for volunteers for our hospital accompaniment program. Hospital advocates meet sexual assault or child abuse victims at the hospital when a victim presents. This volunteer position requires a 35 hour training, and our next training will begin in March of 2018. It can be difficult to take these calls, but it can also be very rewarding.
We are looking for volunteers to help in our prevention programs in area schools. We have prevention specialists that go into classrooms 5 days a week. We work in grade levels kindergarten through 12th grade. Our prevention staff needs assistance in the classrooms, as well as preparing material ahead of time.
For those that are not interested in providing direct services to our clients, we have multiple opportunities for administrative and clerical assistance. We also are frequently in need of handy man for our multiple facilities.
