The Georgia Sierra Club is looking for a hardworking and driven intern interested in learning all aspects of the Communications field. The intern who fills this position should expect to learn a wide array of communications skills, and will complete this program ready to enter any fast-paced Communications position with excellent knowledge. It is essential that applicants to this position have excellent writing and organizational skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.

Responsibilities

The primary function of this position will be to assist the Communications Coordinator with the publication of the Georgia Sierra Club’s largest publication, the Georgia Sierran, a quarterly newsletter that reaches over 12,000 homes. Tasks within this function include:

• Schedule Editorial Committee meetings

• Assign stories to writers

• Oversee content editing

• Locate and secure advertisements

• Assist with mailings and print production

• Distribute newsletters to Georgia Sierra Club partners

• Locate and secure new writers, photographers, and editors

The intern who fills this position will also have the opportunity to assist with social media management, media relations, event coverage, and more.

Requirements

Students applying for this internship must have strong writing skills and should be majoring in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Applicants should also have strong organizational skills and be experienced with both print and digital formats.
