The Center for Survivors of Torture exists to facilitate healing for those who are victims of torture. As a front desk volunteer, you have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of international refugees and asylum seekers in the United States. You will answer phone, take referrals from lawyers and referring agencies, organize donations, and most importantly, greet clients and make them feel welcome!

Other admin support as needed: Filing, helping to keep office tidy, help with writing thank you and holiday cards.

Mission Statement

CST Mission: Healing international survivors of torture and trauma through counseling and related services. CST Values: Integrity, Compassion, Making a Difference.

Description

Since 1997, CST has provided mental health services, social services, medical services, and legal services for over 1,700 torture survivors in Texas and Oklahoma, including refugees and asylum seekers. CST provides education and trainings for professionals, students, and the community. CST is the sole accredited torture treatment center in the south-central United States. We depend on the kindness and generosity of volunteers to help us accomplish our mission.

Please Note:

Due to the sensitive nature of our clients' experiences, we require that potential volunteers agree to a background check and attend a Volunteer Orientation.
