SafeTalk is a prevention program of Kids in Crisis that incorporates the Child Assault Prevention Program (CAPP) curriculum, an international program that began in 1978. CAPP is under the auspices of the International Assault Prevention Center (ICAO) and is currently implemented in 32 states and 10 other countries.
An interactive, age appropriate empowerment program for children, grades 1-5, SafeTalk teaches children how to recognize and respond to potentially dangerous situations and empowers them with the skills needed to keep themselves safe. Key strategies reviewed include self-assertion, saying "No," peer support and asking a trusted adult for help.
We are looking for volunteers to role play during a one hour presentation led by two to three presenters.
Children are then given the opportunity to talk privately with SafeTalk presenters. They are able to share stories and ask questions about the program.
