Mississippi Elementary School is looking for many volunteers to assist with short-term and on-going projects. If you enjoy working with students and teachers - consider these positions!

Regular Office Assistance: Help offload the prep work that is done by teachers so that they have more time to spend with students and on lesson planning. This may include making copies or putting class materials together.

Classroom Assistance: Some grade levels need an extra set of ears for young readers to practice. Teachers may also need assistance with large or messy projects. These activities do not require training but just a willingness to help!

Talent Development: Lead a Reading or Math Group. Training is free and no education credentials are needed, just regular people following a curriculum with a group a students that are at risk of not being challenged enough and coasting through school. Materials are provided.

Special Events: Consider helping during special events! These are short-term opportunities where volunteers may assist with a specific task or on a specific day. Help keep kids organized or run events during Spring Track and Field day. Become a hall monitor in April during standardized testing to keep students and hallways quiet so kids can focus. Make packets that are handed out on Kindergarten Welcome night to incoming families and students. Man the Lost and Found table during big events so boots, coats and jackets can be returned to families. Set up or tear down book fairs or PTO events.

Volunteers are required to fill out an application and pass a background check.
