Each year on Christmas Day Hugs Community Resource Organization distributes gift bags to those individuals experiencing homelessness. Last year we gave out 250 bags, this year we are looking to give 500 bags and toys to the children at COTS shelter in downtown Detroit. We are looking for at least 10-20 volunteers who are willing to drive their own vehicles and spend up to two hours helping distribute gift bags. Our specific objectives and purpose is to provide basic needs: food, clothing, shelter, and job skills to persons with special needs, disabilities and/or at-risk behaviors; to provide facilities, equipment and a forum for participants to engage in the promotion and participation of the job skills; to provide opportunities for participants to engage in recreational, occupational, and other activities as deemed appropriate; and to sponsor, host and/or participate in events and activities that promote the mission of the organization.
