Volunteer Position Summary:
- Responsible for maintaining website. Ensure site is functioning properly and is available to users. Tests speed of access and improves upon loading speed and design.
- Maintain website for clients and businesses.
- Ensure the web servers, hardware and software are operating accurately.
- Design website.
- Generate and revise web pages.
- Examine and analyze site traffic.
- Utilize scripting languages such as Javascript.
- Configure web servers such as Apache.
- Serve as the server administrator.
- Regulate and manage access rights of different users on website.
- Create and modify appearance and setting of site.
- Lay out content on web pages.
- Test website to see if there are any parts that are difficult to use.
- Meet with Executive Director to agree on site's design.
- Fix links that don't work and pictures that aren't appearing properly.
- Decide how site's content will be delivered to the Internet.
- Keep files small so sites load faster.
- Test different browsers and ensure people with different computers can access a website.

Bright Light Volunteers is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, designed to empower program participants and community partners through education and service. Specifically, our programs adhere to global service-learning best practices, which combine community service with both experiential learning in the field and online coursework through our university partner. Our vision is to make the world a brighter place by creating a more peaceful, just, interconnected world where global challenges and opportunities are met by educated, compassionate, global citizens and leaders.
