Do you love cats? Can you spare 1-1.5 hours a week? Thats how long it takes to help out at our centers. Northport Cat Rescue has two adoption center locations and a third about to begin. We have both an AM and PM shift daily for volunteers to feed, clean litter, brush and pet the kittens and cats that are up for adoption. It is also an opportunity to educate customers on rescue cats, community cat management and the adoption process. Please consider taking a shift to keep our kittens and cats happy and healthy while they wait for their forever homes. Great volunteer community service hours for a student to build up that resume!

Mission Statement

Northport Cat Rescue Association is a nonprofit organization located in Northport, NY. We’re a volunteer operated, no-kill rescue. Our goals are to rescue and reduce the number of adoptable cats from living homeless and from being sent to kill shelters throughout Long Island. We provide them with medical & nutritional care, foster them with love & stability to prepare them for adoption, and reduce the feral cat population in our communities through our TNR program. Please visit our website to see our sweet rescue cats available for adoption at Petco stores in Commack & Huntington, Doggie Don’s in East Northport and with many of our wonderful foster families. We hope you’ll join us in achieving these goals save these helpless cats.

Description

Northport Cat Rescue Association was formed in 2012 by Joseph Thamm, Don Kershan, and Tony Ripani. What brought them together was compassion towards helpless cats. Their efforts were supported by their wives, Judy, Diane and Angela, whose tireless efforts would guarantee the continued growth and success of the organization.

Current members, Joseph Thamm, Don & Diane Kershan, Janet Recchia, Seher Sen and Lora Wild, continue to carry on the mission. Each year, we rescue more cats than the year before and place them in loving homes after a careful screening process. We focus on one cat at a time, do the very best for each and every cat we rescue.

All of this work is only made possible by many dedicated volunteers who help care for the cats in our habitats and many wonderful fosters families who help prepare our rescue cats for adoption in their homes.
All of our operational costs are covered by generous members in our community who donate to our organization as well as grants we receive from time to time.

We ask that all of our volunteers and fosters to become part of the whole organization, join our efforts in promoting our cats available for adoption, participate in our fundraisers and events, as these are all crucial components of the success of the organization, which of course is the advocacy and assurance of safe, healthy and happy lives for our feline friends.

We're looking forward to welcoming you to our wonderful organization.
