Do you want to spend quality time with a fellow Flatonian? We provide care for patients with terminal illness in their home or a facility. Our volunteers provide companionship and comfort to people in end-of-life care who may not have many visitors. You can chit-chat, watch TV, sing songs, read aloud, play a game, or just sit quietly. The personal rewards can be very impactful and meaningful. We complete a criminal history check, 2 references, drug screen, TB test and comprehensive training at no cost to the volunteer. You can set your own schedule. Training includes how to communicate with patients and families, active listening, dementia, do's and dont's, patient confidentiality, ethics, caring for the caregiver, grief and bereavement, and much more. Our patients in Flatonia need your comforting presence, and the experience may be life-affirming for you!
