SCI Provides Tools and Training for Solar Cooking
A Family in Nepal uses a solar cooker, 2013

Deck the halls with mail unopened!
Filing left to do, and calls to make.
Tis the season to make copies,
Write a little card, and stuff some notes!

We need a flexible volunteer to join our team like yesterday to help with the holiday rush of nonprofit office work. We need you for at least two hours on a consistent day of the week. And possibly 2 days. Or 4 hours. Depending on you.

You will accomplish some easy tasks with ample direction in a fast-paced office.

If you like doing a variety things, and don't mind computers, then this volunteer opportunity is for you.

We hope that you've worked in an office before. We hope that you are accomplished in using a computer, and that you are familiar with Word, Excel, and Outlook.

You might spend most of your time on a computer. Or you may be answering the phone, or returning a call. Or typing notes up from a meeting. Or stuffing a few letters. Or helping make new files. Or straightening a storage shelf or the kitchen. We especially need help with entering data into a spreadsheet or database. Don't worry! We will train you.

What you will experience is deep appreciation from an incredibly grateful staff for the support you will provide for our small staff.

You will learn lots of new things while helping people and a great cause.

Mission Statement

The mission of Solar Cookers International (SCI) is to improve human health, economic well-being, women’s empowerment, and the environment by promoting climate-friendly solar cooking for vulnerable populations worldwide. We work to solve the problem of inadequate household energy facing nearly 2.4 billion people on our planet. Since human health, quality of life, and environments are affected by cooking fuel choices, we offer a solution to the difficult choices nearly half of all families make every day: whether to buy fuel or to buy food and other family needs. The sun’s free energy is a viable solution for all who live where the sun shines. Solar cooker technology is a sustainable and environmentally responsible tool that helps families fight poverty and disease, and changes women’s and children’s lives for the better. Join us in empowering more women to improve their lives by learning how to cook with the sun.
