Looking for a unique volunteer opportunity? We have a special chance to get out on the San Diego River in a boat!
Every other Thursday morning, volunteers will help to monitor water quality in Mission Valley. We'll use the gathered data to measure the success of a trial program installing aerators in the River.
Volunteers may assist with paddling the boat, recording data, taking samples, loading and unloading equipment, or spotting from shore.
Experience in water is preferred, as is an interest in collecting scientific data. Volunteers must be able carry up to 20 pounds and to walk over uneven terrain to launch and get in the boat. Training will be provided. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Community service hours are not provided for this event.
While this volunteer opportunity is located near transit, we are hoping to find a few volunteers with vehicles who would be willing to pick up the equipment the day before and drop it off after monitoring.
For more information or to get involved, please contact Shannon at shannon@sandiegoriver.org or (619) 297-7380.
