Do you like to work with children? Do you consider yourself a "people person"?
YOU can help connect people with our San Diego River! By educating children and members of the public, you can help to build community around a local resource and facilitate environmental stewardship for generations to come.
The San Diego River Park Foundation is seeking education and outreach volunteers to help lead children’s nature science activities and represent the organization at public events. Volunteers will help to set-up and clean-up field trip equipment and outreach booths, facilitate children’s activities (ex: nature walk, hike, sorting invertebrates, community service, etc.), answer questions, hand-out flyers, explain the organization’s mission and programs, and teach basic science concepts. Education and outreach volunteers share information and generate excitement for science, conservation, and our San Diego River.
The ideal volunteer will be patient and flexible with strong verbal communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a friendly demeanor. Youth education and outreach events may be scheduled on weekdays or weekends and during the day or in the evening. Volunteers with more schedule flexibility are preferred, as they will be able to attend more events, but volunteers with less flexibility may still be able to participate. All interested persons will be invited to interview before volunteering. No prior knowledge necessary. Training will be provided.More opportunities with The San Diego River Park Foundation
