This position will support the Social Media and blog needs of the Restoring Family Links (RFL) team at American Red Cross' National Headquarters. To learn more about RFL please visit our website at www.redcross.org/familylinks

The positions responsibilities will include:

  • Develop social media strategies and generate content for social media (such as info-graphics, blog posts, and Twitter posts)
  • Maintain Restoring Family Links Blog
  • Write reports about social media trends
  • Assist Social Media Coordinator with and develop different RFL campaigns
  • Support social media virtual volunteers and the Red Cross chapter network in their efforts to promote and grow the Restoring Family Links program
  • Manage media-related casework
  • Assist with other casework responsibilities as needed

The Minimum commitment for this position is 6 months, and two days a week. Once trained, the volunteer may stay for longer if interested. Volunteers with availability to commit more time will be prioritized.

Description

The American Red Cross helps reconnect loved ones separated internationally when:

  • Families have been separated internationally as a result of conflict, disaster, migration or other humanitarian emergency.
  • Families have tried normal channels of communication to reconnect.
  • The family member making the inquiry is able to provide essential information on the sought person.
  • The family member making the inquiry is a relative, who had been in direct contact with the sought person before the crisis occurred.
The Reconnecting Family Links program is a free and confidential service. We work with you to search for and locate your family and loved ones.
