Kicking-off in Moscow ahead of the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, the third Street Child World Cup will unite street-connected children from across the globe, to play in an international football tournament like no other and send their message to the world I AM SOMEBODY. Playing on the world stage, teams of former street children will become athletes and ambassadors, representing their countries and millions of children surviving on the streets worldwide, changing the way they are negatively seen and treated.
What is the Street Child World Cup?
Football Tournament: Girls and boys tournaments complete with groups and knock - out stages, with the finals taking place at an iconic landmark in Moscow.
Congress: Model-UN participatory Congress addressing key issues highlighted by the children focusing on Education, Protection and Identity.
Festival of Arts: Opening and closing ceremonies, and a programme of music, dance and visual art, promoting cultural exchange.
When?
Volunteers will be required to arrive in Moscow on 17th May and will be free to leave on the 28th May 2018.
How Much?
All volunteers will be asked to raise £1200 (plus pay for your own flights & visa costs). You will need to have raised 100% of your fundraising target by 30 th March 2018. On acceptance of a volunteer place you will need to pay a non-refundable £250 registration fee, this will be deducted from your total fundraising target.
General Volunteer
This is the largest group of volunteers needed and is essential to the smooth running of the whole event! As a general volunteer you will be providing vital support to the Street Child World Cup to ensure all the young people who attend have an amazing time. General volunteers could be doing anything from cheering on the teams, helping with the arts, interpreting, supporting with the Street Child Congress, through to team support.
Communications
We need specialist communications volunteers who can comfortably engage with people from diverse backgrounds. A whole host of communication roles will be needed from Videographers, Editors through to Digital and Social Media experts.
Arts
We need a small number of arts volunteers who have skills and experience in art, music, theatre and/or dance. You will lead on coordinating the arts element of the SCWC, which will include everything from the opening and closing ceremonies, through to running workshops for the young people in their spare time.
