Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) is seeking an unpaid intern to focus on the Sound Off! program coordination. Sound Off! is the Northwest's premier 21 and under battle of the bands. Now in its 17th year, Sound Off! supports the local music scene by giving artists from different backgrounds an opportunity to showcase their work, connect with the larger artistic community, and perform live at the top venue in the region. Sound Off! finalists receive extensive prizes and consultations from music industry professionals.
The Sound Off! intern will be working with in the Programs and Education teams and will assist in ensuring that the program and concerts run smoothly and that bands are supported fully in their experience and exploration of future goals. The intern will assist from the beginning to final stages of the programming including marketing and promotion of the event, preparation of band materials, communications with bands, data entry, production support, and final wrap up materials for the program.
This internship will provide the opportunity to work on a locally renowned battle of the bands and young artist development program, gain exposure to the local music community, and experience planning and managing arts and museum programs.

Description
The Museum of Pop Culture is dedicated to the exploration of creativity and innovation in popular music. By blending interpretative, interactive exhibitions with cutting-edge technology, MoPOP captures and reflects the essence of rock 'n' roll, its roots in jazz, soul, gospel, country and the blues, as well as rock's influence on hip-hop, punk and other recent genres. Visitors can view rare artifacts and memorabilia and experience the creative process by listening to musicians tell their own stories.
